Project: To create wall signs for Stair and Emergency Exit Signs that matched the aesthetics of the building. Making it visible and dynamic to those who will use them.

Lyon & Lyon - Old Town San Diego

Project: To create a new sign with an old town feeling for the "Old Town Inn". Bright colors, something that will match the historical significance of the Inn.

Summary: Client looking to package book with tools that follow the same "idea" of the book. Clean style and follows the same look of book for P.O.P.

Summary: Client needed a insert in the Better Business Bearu to show new members where they could get nice office furniture for a good price, while still showing an upscale presence.

Sweet Sixteen - Party Graphics

Summary: Customer needed graphics for sweet sixteen party, with a "High School Musical" theme. I created original graphics and layouts. Used photoshop to include the image of Jessica for her party.

Avanti - Map Design

Here I have a project that I did for an apartment complex called "Avanti", they needed signage for their entrance to show where the apartments were located. This is what the customer approved on. This took a solid 8 hours, with the detail and changes added to it. I have the outline version to show you the detail of what I needed to create.

1 Fall - Logo Work

Company: 1 Fall

These were the parameters of the project:

- 1 Fall is a game project. It will be used for carrying out large cybergame activities. Contingent of the project is young people from 13 to 25, professionally playing games like Warcraft, Counter-Strike, Quake, etc. 1fall means 'Einfall' which is translated as 'sudden invasion', 'incursion', 'attack', 'assault'. Logo has to express the energy of this words. Style must be close to some emblem in the cyberpunk spirit, strict and minimalistic.

A little about me

My name is David Nethery. I am a graduate of the Art Institute of California: Orange County, with a Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design. I began my interest in graphic design after seeing the movie "Toy Story", at the time I was really interested in becoming a 3D animator. I then took some classes in design and found that my passion lead in to Graphic Design. I felt through imagery, text, and tactile response I could create what I really found in my creative medium.

I was at Long Beach City College, for a number of years fine tuning what it was that I really wanted to do, that's when I met a mentor of mine, Deon Reid. He along with the staff in the Computer Arts Department really inspired me to push forward and shape me into who I wanted to be, an artist.

I was working while I was going to AI of OC at a sign shop called FASTSIGNS, there I was able to have a creative and sometimes not so creative outlet to get my ideas out there. I worked there for 2.5 years, eventually getting to a point where I needed to move on. I moved to San Diego in 2006 and worked at a few different sign shops along the way. I lead the creative end of Miramar Sign Works and Graphics as the Creative Director. I believe I have found my calling in the design world as a Sign Designer. Its just a rewarding experience because from concept to creation you are involved at every step and you see your work out in the world on a daily basis.
